“When I came to House of Cherith it felt like a weight was lifted off of me. I knew I was in the right place.”
“Before HOC, I was in a very dark place. I was homeless, sleeping in cars, vans, or walking the streets all night. I was addicted to crack which led to me sleeping around with many men. I was raped and sexually assaulted. I was not taking care of myself and I was dealing with things that I did not know about. I was struggling with anxiety, PTSD, and depression.
My family did not want to associate with me even though they worried about me. At the time, I had not talked to any of my family members for over a month. My kids said they thought I was dead and almost even reported me dead and missing.
I kept struggling and could not escape the pit I was in. A lady I worked with knew of House of Cherith and told me to call them. I listened and came to House of Cherith.
When I came to House of Cherith it felt like a weight was lifted off of me. I knew I was in the right place and I said ‘thank you Jesus!’
I was no longer in darkness and have been learning to trust in God and keep my eyes on Him. Since being here, I have been learning about self-care and how to dress. I have learned to stay in my own lane and respect others the way I want to be respected.
I have learned what it means to advocate for myself and to use my tools to stay clean and sober. HOC is the best thing that has happened in my life.”
