“My life had spiraled out of control. I lived as if I were homeless, using daily, and was being set up for sex trafficking. My trauma began in my toddler stage of life (age 3) and progressed until April 2020, when I sought help. I’ve experienced sexual, spiritual, mental, emotional, relational, and financial abuse. My abusers ranged from my father, maternal uncles and maternal grandfather.  I’ve experienced assaults from women as well as from every boyfriend I’ve ever had. I was diagnosed with bipolar at age 9 and became severely mentally ill from my drug addiction which was forced upon me at age 7 (to keep me manageable for the abuse). By the time I was 14 years old, I had left home to embark on my new abuse-free life (so I had thought) only to realize I had a heavy drug addiction and no ability to take care of myself except the only way I had been taught... SEX!! So my life of prostitution began. From age 14 to age 26, I lived a double life that no one knew about. During that time frame, God gave me a gift that saved my life in hindsight. My son was born to me at age 15 ½. I started attempting to get my life together at age 28 by taking my mental health seriously, adhering to taking my medication as prescribed, attending therapy, and educating myself and trying to leave my abusive life behind me. Unfortunately, I wasn’t successful until God led me to House of Cherith.
