"House of Cherith has changed many things for me. The biggest change is that it has given me back my faith and hope to where I can actually see a future.”

“My life before House of Cherith was dark and hopeless. I had got to a point where I literally could not see a future. I had completely given up on myself mentally, physically, and spiritually. I was completely broken. I had lost my faith and hope. I battled with an addiction to meth for eight years where during that time I lost everything that was important to me and worth living for. I was a mom with two beautiful daughters, I was a nurse with the best bedside manner and I had a family that was proud of me. Then one by one and little by little I lost all of that to where eventually I became homeless and somehow ended up being prostituted out to at multiple locations. I would meet someone thinking I was going to do legal work. I ended up getting prostituted out for drugs, alcohol and money that they kept so I would try somewhere else and it would happen again. Eventually, after being homeless for some time, it was cold outside and I broke into a building. I got arrested for burglary. I told my lawyer about being prostituted and the judge ordered me to complete the terms of Out of Darkness. Out of Darkness chose House a Cherith for me. House of Cherith has changed many things for me. The biggest change is that it has given me back my faith and hope to where I can actually see a future. I have grown spiritually from the way the program is set up. We are allowed and blessed with space, food, clothes, and the time to heal. And the time that is given to us we are staying focused on God which is our foundation and around that is classes where we can learn, process and are given versatile tools to enable us to heal from our trauma. I have also learned how to simply socialize again through team building.”
